London, United Kingdom, 17th April 2026 — Kao Data, the specialist developer and operator of data centres engineered for AI and advanced computing, has announced that after 13 years of service, Matthew Harris, the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), will leave Kao Data.
Matthew has been a key part of Kao Data’s journey since the beginning, originally joining the startup ‘Goldacre Data’ as CFO to develop Kao Data’s award-winning campus in Harlow. He
went on to serve as a founding board member and Investor Director, before stepping into the role of Kao Data’s CFO in September 2021.
Across those 13 years, Matthew has been a member of the founding management team as it recruited an industry-leading design and engineering team, added sites across the UK and built-out its operating platform. During Matthew’s tenure, he also played an important role in helping to secure a range of AI, cloud and enterprise customers, and raised institutional equity and debt.
Since formally assuming the role of Kao Data’s CFO in 2021, Matt has significantly built and strengthened the company’s finance and investment functions, helping to position the business for its next phase of growth and scale.
Matthew Harris said: “Over the past 13 years, my time at Kao Data has been an extraordinary journey, and one defined by constant evolution, strong progress, and the privilege of working alongside some of the industry’s sharpest minds, helping to transform an idea into what is now, one of the UK’s most respected data centre platforms.”
“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together and the resilience, innovation, and teamwork that made it possible. I will continue to keep a keen interest in the next phase of Kao Data’s evolution and look forward to seeing the company continue to grow.”
David Bloom, Executive Chairman at Kao Data, commented: “On behalf of Kao Data I would like to express our sincerest thanks to Matthew for his substantial contributions to the company, having helped shape our growth and success to-date – preparing the company for its next phase of development and scale.”
“While we will miss his insightful guidance, energy and sharp wit, we fully support Matthew’s desire for a new challenge. He departs at a high point in Kao Data’s ongoing growth, and we wish him every success in his next chapter.”
Matthew will depart Kao Data at the end of June 2026, and his successor will be announced in due course.
